L.B.H. Timber Mart (also L.B.H. Building Centre) in St. Albert, Alta., has been awarded the 2015 Hardlines Outstanding Retailer Award (ORA) — Marc Robichaud Community Leader. Nominated by TIM-BR Mart, owner Doug Lemieux was recognized for more than 21 years of community service supporting national charities, local food banks, and minor sports teams.
“We were honored to have been nominated for the Marc Robichaud Community Leader Award, but to actually win the award is surreal,” says Doug Lemieux, owner of L.B.H. and Onoway Timber Marts. “This is definitely a team win for our two companies, L.B.H. Building Centre and Onoway Timber Mart.”
Michael McLarney, president and editor of Hardlines Inc., says: “L.B.H. Timber Mart is always looking for an opportunity to give back to the community in ways that are proactive and meaningful. Doug Lemieux’s own challenges only seem to inspire his team to do more, rather than hold them back.”
L.B.H. Timber Mart was founded in 1973 by Doug Lemieux’s father and uncles. During the 21 years he has owned the business, the store has increased in square footage and revenue while maintaining a strong presence in the St. Albert community. Lemieux has Parkinson’s disease, and his company regularly supports national causes such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, cancer and the Ronald McDonald House, as well as local sports teams and food banks.
“While running a very successful business, Doug Lemieux has shown steadfast commitment to the well-being of his community and towards a multitude of local and national causes,” says Bernie Owens, president of the TIM-BR Mart Group. “We are extremely proud of Doug and wish him and his team a sincere congratulations.”
